@Regrann_App from @amhistorymuseum - These three cans once contained fresh oyster meat packed in Baltimore, Maryland. Oysters are a great example of "politics on your plate." In 1906 the U.S. Congress passed several pure food laws in response to outbreaks of typhoid fever and gastrointestinal ailments linked to poor sanitation. New regulations were imposed on the oyster industry after contaminated oysters were blamed for serious illnesses. So do we vote with our forks?
