@Regrann_App from @amhistorymuseum - The Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC, is pretty well-known for its cupcakes. But it has a history as a pie destination, as well! In 1885, Henry Copperthite established a wholesale pie baking company in Georgetwon. His "Connecticut Pies" (he learned his trade in the Nutmeg State) were popular throughout the nation's capital. The bakery produced more than 10,000 pies each day, and a fleet of horse-drawn wagons delivered them to grocery stores and restaurants. The child-size, pony-drawn wagon in our collection was used in parades and other advertising activities, according to Copperthite descendants. #WagonSpotting #PiePlease #BakedGoods #CupcakeCam #DCcupcake #DCpies #aCreativeDC #DCcool #FoodHistory #SmithsonianFood @cthistorical - #regrann
