#Repost @americanantiquarian with @appreposter During the winter holidays in 1867, Richelieu Confectioners in New Orleans, Louisiana, filled an order for a Mrs. Quitmann. She ordered two large mince pies and six assorted cakes for Christmas Day, then on New Year's Day she purchased a fruit cake and six other cakes -- 13 cakes and 2 pies all for under $10.00. Ah, history, how sweet it is! #treatsinthelibrary #cake #neworleans #ephemera #billhead #NOLA
