Repost @linda.duffin by @media.repost: I've got a bit of a thing about Eric Bawden's illustrations and I also love collecting old cookery books, so this one by Magda Joicey, illustrated by Bawden, was a real find (the one underneath is Bawden's Life In An English Village, a treasure). . First published in 1946 when rationing was in force...Magda tells you how to make souffles with dried egg...Cook-Book Note-Book has some decent recipes, especially considering the limitations of the time. Mind you, the Cold Turbot Tarts might have been taking make do and mend a step too far. 😄 . I can't find out much about her, except that she was born in Vienna and died in Bath in England. She wrote three cookbooks that I know of. Anyone know any more about her please?
