Repost @slowfood_international by @media.repost: Ethiopia is where coffee originated and the only country where the plant still grows in the wild. Coffee has played an integral part in local culture for thousands of years and is still the major source of income for many farmers in the country. In the Harenna forest, around 1,800 m above sea level, the Harenna Forest Wild Coffee Presidium grows spontaneously in the shade of tall trees. Unlike some coffees from South America, the Harenna coffee berries do not need to be stripped or washed, they are simply left to dry in the sun on suspended nets - - - © Paola Viesi - - - #slowfood #slow #food #foodforchange #local #sustainability #environment #biodiversity #climatechange #terramadre #gastronomy #eatlocal #culture #organic #presidium #artisan #traditional #delicious #tasty #future #coffee #africa #harenna #ethiopia #cafe #caffe #bean
