Repost @slowfood_international by @media.repost: A report released today by the FAO details the severe threat caused by biodiversity loss to our food and agriculture. The current model of intensive industrial agriculture is unsustainable and destructive, and it is wiping out the biodiversity that supports our ecosystems and underpins our food system. Unsustainable water and land management, pollution, climate change, and overharvesting are all cited as major drivers in the loss of biodiversity, as species and varieties of plants and animals die out at an alarming rate. Slow Food has been working for decades to protect biodiversity, and this FAO report reinforces the urgency for action at every level. - - - Photo © Elisa Folco - - - #slowfood #slow #food #environment #local #biodiversity #sustainability #foodforchange #sustainable #agriculture #wastefree #waronwaste #un #bees #savethebees #honey #biodiversity #savebiodiversity #insects #UnitedNations #FAO
